Ports North is responsible for the development and management of port facilities vital to the economic growth of Cairns and regional centres in Far North Queensland. The Corporation has extensive property, marina, tourism and cargo facilities in Cairns and its regional ports.
An exciting opportunity exists for a Manager Port Services to join the Operations team.
Reporting to the General Manager Operations, the Manager Port Services will be responsible for the management of daily operations of Cairns and regional ports including providing direction to the Shipping Services Manager, Regional Port Staff and the Plant & Maintenance Team in order to provide timely services to port customers and stakeholders. The position will also manage the operations, certification, compliance and maintenance requirements of Ports North’s vessels and floating plant.
The role will additionally hold the Deputy Port Security Officer position for the Port of Cairns with the responsibility for preparing and delivering emergency and security services and drills.
Other specific responsibilities include:
- Assisting the General Manager Operations in the production & management of the operations annual budgets and negotiation of contracts and services
- Development of systems and procedures to deliver effective services to meet the needs of port users, customers & stakeholders
- Management of oil spill compliance requirements
The successful applicant will have significant maritime operational management and technical experience focused on delivering outcomes. Personal attributes will include the capability to influence and gain the commitment of others using strong interpersonal and relationship skills.
A current Driver's Licence and the ability to satisfy the criteria for obtaining a Maritime Security Identification Card is essential.
