Ports North is responsible for the development and management of port facilities vital to the development of Cairns and regional centres in Far North Queensland.  The Corporation has extensive property, marina, tourism and cargo facilities in Cairns and its regional ports. 

 An opportunity exists for a Port Employee to join our Operations Team at the Port of Cairns.

 As a Port Employee you will be a part of a small team and be required to undertake general port duties associated with operational and maintenance activities that incorporate the operation of plant and equipment including marine plant. You will need to display a high level of dependency and reliability. You will also be required to participate in an after-hours “oncall” system.

Opportunities exist to provide relief to the Seaport Operations team, which includes supporting the safe and efficient movement of vessels and security within the Port.

 Reporting directly to the Plant and Maintenance Team Leader you will be required to have a Coxswain Certificate, Radio Operators Licence, Forklift Operator Certificate and First Aid certification. In addition, you should have a good level of computer literacy skills and experience in the repair and maintenance of marine equipment and facilities.

Towage, Pilotage Transfer and Clamshell dredging experience would be advantageous, but not necessary.

You will be required to be able to satisfy the criteria for obtaining a Maritime Security Identification Card.
