Regional Ports Push as Ports North Community Investment Fund Returns in 2026

Published: 18 February 2026

Ports North's Community Investment Fund is now open for 2026, offering grants of up to $15,000 or organisations making a meaningful difference across regional port communities.

Now in its third year, the fund supports community-led projects that build skills and capacity in the maritime industry and related sectors, while also enhancing community wellbeing, strengthening cultural heritage, and protecting the natural environment.

Ports North Chief Executive Officer Richard Stevenson said the initiative recognises the vital role local organisations play in supporting their communities.

"The Community Investment fund recognises the depth and diversity of the port communities we serve and those great organisations who work behind the scenes to ensure people in those regions are supported," Mr Stevenson said.

"Those organisations understand the local challenges, and our support can make a small difference in ensuring they continue their great work creating positive change.

"Across our nine port communities, we know there are organisations runs by passionate volunteers with limited resources, and even modest funding can make a real difference to their work on the ground.

"The Ports North Community Investment Fund is designed to support organisations that have a real impact, particularly those operating with limited resources.

The 2026 program will continue to back practical, community-driven projects that deliver lasting benefits and reflect the needs and priorities of local port communities.

Applications are open to organisations working to achieve one or more of the following outcomes:

  • Delivering capability in the maritime industry or related industries
  • Enhancing community safety and wellbeing
  • Deepening cultural connection
  • Protecting and enhancing natural environments

Full eligibility and details and application guidelines are available on the Ports North website. Applications close 15th March and successful applicants will be notified late March.
